On September 1, Liu Zhenya, chairman of the Global Energy Internet Development Cooperation Organization and chairman of the China Electricity Council, met with Brazilian Minister of Minerals and Energy Fernando Coelho Filho and his party in Beijing. The two parties signed a joint statement on cooperation to jointly promote the construction of a global energy Internet, and promote the development of renewable energy and sustainable energy development.

Liu Zhenya said that with the support of the Brazilian government, the power companies of China and Brazil have continuously deepened cooperation in recent years. The State Grid Corporation of China and other companies have actively participated in the construction of energy and power in Brazil and have achieved remarkable results. It is believed that the two sides will carry out more fruitful cooperation in the areas of grid interconnection, smart grid development and renewable energy development, and promote China-Pakistan cooperation to a new level.

Fernando introduced Brazil's power development and related policies. He said that China and Brazil have large territories and abundant clean energy resources, and both have the need to send large-scale renewable energy to load centers. Brazil will continue to fulfill its emission reduction commitments, expand the proportion of renewable energy, actively attract investment in related fields, and welcome Chinese companies to conduct business in Brazil.

The joint statement clarified that the two parties will support each other in renewable energy development, smart grid development, power system interconnection and other aspects, carry out cooperation, share relevant knowledge and experience, and jointly carry out research in related fields.

At present, Brazil has two UHV lines under construction. They are the first and second phases of the ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project of Brazil’s Beautiful Mountain, both of which were won by the State Grid Corporation of China. UHV is the world's highest voltage level and most advanced power transmission technology, which can realize long-distance, large-capacity, and low-loss transmission of electric energy. The UHV project in Brazil's Mira Mountain will transport the abundant clean energy in northern Brazil to the load center in the southeast, and better serve Brazil's economic and social development. Among them, the transportation distance of the first phase project is as long as 2084 kilometers, and it has entered the full construction stage. After the completion of the two lines, they will become a major transmission channel for Brazil and even South America, laying a solid foundation for grid interconnection.
